Get to Know the Tooth Fairy

The Tooth Fairy is on a mission to promote healthy smiles across Washington state. While her night job has her visiting kids while they’re asleep, The Tooth Fairy Experience allows her to interact with kids -- spreading smiles while making dental health education interactive and fun! We asked the Tooth Fairy to answer a few of the most common questions she gets asked every day.

Tooth Fairy, what is your favorite thing about teeth?

I love teeth! Especially incredibly healthy teeth – and I love how they shine! Healthy teeth help us do so many things like eating, talking, and even smiling. It’s important for kids to keep their teeth sparkling clean and healthy so they can eat their favorite foods, talk to their friends, and smile at one another.

What can kids do to keep their teeth clean and healthy?

The most important thing kids can do is to brush their teeth twice a day for two minutes and to floss their teeth once a day. It’s also important that everybody regularly visit my friend, the dentist, to make sure those chompers are in tip-top shape. It’s also important that we eat super healthy and don’t eat or drink too much sugar – things like fruit, vegetables and water are great choices for our teeth.

We know we shouldn’t eat sugar, but is it okay to eat a tiny bit every once in a while?

A tiny bit of sugar on special occasions – like on your birthday or maybe even after you win a soccer game – is perfectly okay! My advice would be to drink water after eating your special treat, and if you choose candy pick chocolate. Chocolate melts in your mouth, so it comes off your teeth more easily than sticky, gummy treats.

If you need to collect so many teeth, how do you do it all by yourself?

I don’t have to do it by myself because there are many of us Tooth Fairies at Tooth Fairy headquarters! I also have special friends all over the world like Raton Perez and Petite Souris who visit children in cultures who have different traditions. We all work together to make sure that we collect all the healthy teeth that children lose every day.
